Constables Mobility Produce The Fastest Mobility Vehicles
In what must described as an amazing pace of work Constables were able to build a car for a driver in under a week.
Simon and Tracy Eloie from London had a consultation at their home on the afternoon of Monday 27th of September and drove away in their new disability car on the following Friday. Their 3pm appointment, as is normal at Constables, lasted an hour and a half. When the order was put through it was ten to five and the car was on the ramp and ready to start being rebuilt on Tuesday morning. Their new car was in fact finished and had been fully safety tested on the Thursday, a little after lunch.
When Constables build a new wheelchair car it’s not just a case of a few minor alterations, they can do minor things like fitting accessibility devices to the steering wheel in a few hours. What the Eloies needed was an all-in adaptation which involved lowering floors, moving the fuel tank, fitting the aftermarket seats with all their adjustments, bespoke belts and anchors. It was what David Reed, who took the order, described as a rebuild of the whole back of the vehicle.
I asked if this was the kind of thing that could be repeated or was it just a one-off? It transpires that if the circumstances are right, yes, they have built their cars in this timeframe in the past and they could make a turnaround in that time again! If you’re a private or retail customer then things can happen really quickly. It’s only the paperwork that slows things down. In this case, as there were special circumstances surrounding Mrs Eloie’s situation, much of the paperwork was waived by Motability. Cutting out the paperwork saved time in the office, the workshop they’re always ready to pull out the stops and get things done.
