Getting To Paris Through The Channel Tunnel
I do not like to spend a lot of time travelling and to be perfectly honest when I do get annual leave from work I would prefer to just spend it doing up the house or working in the garden. The wife has the travel bug bad though; her view is that holidays are all about going abroad and getting a tan. We don’t have enough money coming in to go abroad every year, but manage it ever couple of years. It was our twentieth anniversary this year and I decided to treat the wife to a surprise weekend away. Lately she hasn’t been feeling too great because our son has recently left home to go off to university. I was thinking about going to Scotland or somewhere near, but then I saw an ad for the Channel Tunnel.
And although I was already aware of the Channel Tunnel, I am part of the minority of people from England who actually haven’t been in it yet. I did a bit of research and found out that it would be possible to drive from our home here in Bromley to Paris in a matter of hours. I knew that this would be something that would thrill the wife and I actually quite fancied the idea of taking my car under the sea. I was also even more surprised when I discovered that it would only take about thirty five minutes for us to drive from Folkestone to Calais.
So when the weekend of our anniversary arrived, my wife and I headed to France. We went via the Channel Tunnel and that was all very exciting. My wife had a great time in Paris and to my surprise, so did I. The amazing thing about the Tunnel is that it just makes the continent so close. I could just as easily get to France as I could to Liverpool. And it was not expensive at all. Next year we are hoping to get away to Europe with the car for a longer trip.
City breaks Europe style are extremely popular today. France hotels are top-notch when it comes to thinking about city breaks in Europe. Many are pet friendly hotels to boot. For a romantic weekend away, city breaks are the best.
